Apple Releases iOS 11.4 beta

Posted:

Last week, Apple released iOS 11.4 beta and we’re going to show you some of the biggest additions in this latest beta. As stated by MacRumors the iOS 11.4 beta is similar to the iOS 11.3 beta due to several key features that were removed from iOS 11.3 before it’s release and was then reintroduced in iOS 11.4.

According to 9to5Mac some of the major features have appeared in previous betas. Firstly, let’s look at the AirPlay 2 support that has reappeared. You’ll need to update your Apple TV to the latest tvOS beta to be able to test out the feature, but it is there. AirPlay 2 was first mentioned at WWDC 2017 and bring with it multi-room audio to supported devices, allowing you to play music in more than one location at the same time says 9to5Mac.

You’re also able to individually control the volume of the speakers throughout your house right from the Control Centre interface. As stated by 9to5Mac AirPlay 2 will eventually make its way to Apple’s HomePod speaker once a HomePod software update is released.

In the new software, Apple also reintroduced Messages on iCloud. Messages on iCloud was present during the iOS 11.3 beta testing period, but didn’t make it into the release. With the new feature, your iMessages are stored in iCloud rather than on each individual device, allowing for improved syncing capabilities says MacRumors.

According to ZDNet the release also includes support for Apple’s new ClassKit framework, which allows developers to add support for the upcoming Schoolwork app to their own apps. If you’d like access to the public beta, you can get it like this:

Head to Settings > General > Software Update on your enrolled iOS device and download the latest Public Beta build right now! Download it here.
